World's second most beautiful island sees 30% surge in foreign tourists during Lunar New Year

Foreign visitors accounted for nearly 40% of the island's total arrivals during the 9-day holiday, which wrapped up on Sunday, according to statistics from Kien Giang Province's Department of Tourism.

In total, Phu Quoc received 281,000 visitors, up 27% compared to the same period last year.

Data from booking platform Mustgo showed that 90% of accommodations on the island were fully booked, with the majority of reservations in 4-star and 5-star hotels.

Last year, Vietnam's largest island was ranked the world's second most beautiful by readers of the American magazine Travel + Leisure last year, following the Maldives.
