Vietnam grants 45-day visa waivers to citizens from another 12 countries

According to the Government's Resolution No. 229 dated Aug. 8, visa exemptions will granted to citizens of Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Switzerland. The policy will take effect from Aug. 15, 2025 to Aug. 14, 2028 under the tourism promotion and development program.

• Theo Nghị quyết số 229 của Chính phủ ngày 8 tháng 8, công dân của Bỉ, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cộng hòa Séc, Hungary, Luxembourg, Hà Lan, Ba Lan, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia và Thụy Sĩ sẽ được miễn thị thực. Chính sách này sẽ có hiệu lực từ ngày 15 tháng 8 năm 2025 đến ngày 14 tháng 8 năm 2028 theo chương trình xúc tiến và phát triển du lịch.

The Government's Resolution No. 11 dated Jan. 15, 2025 on visa exemptions for citizens of Poland, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland under the 2025 tourism promotion and development program will be invalid from Aug. 15, 2025.

• Nghị quyết số 11 của Chính phủ ngày 15 tháng 1 năm 2025 về việc miễn thị thực cho công dân Ba Lan, Cộng hòa Séc và Thụy Sĩ theo chương trình xúc tiến và phát triển du lịch năm 2025 sẽ bị vô hiệu từ ngày 15 tháng 8 năm 2025.

Also on Aug. 8, the Government issued Decree No. 221 on a limited-term visa waiver scheme for foreign nationals in specially designated categories whose presence is deemed beneficial to the country's socio-economic development. Under the decree, eligible individuals include guests invited by top national leaders such as the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the State President, the Chair of the National Assembly, the Prime Minister, the Standing Member of the Party Secretariat, vice heads of the State, Parliament and Government, heads of mass organizations, the Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court, the Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuracy, the State Auditor General, ministers and equivalent officials, as well as provincial and municipal leaders. They are also scholars, experts, scientists, university professors, chief engineers, and high-quality human resources in the digital technology industry; investors and executives from the world’s largest corporations; cultural, artistic, sports and tourism figures with a positive public influence; Vietnam’s honorary consuls abroad; and guests of designated research institutes, universities, and large enterprises, as approved by ministries, ministerial-level agencies, Government agencies, and the Government. Other individuals deemed eligible for special visa-free entry for diplomatic or socio-economic purposes, as decided by the Minister of Public Security, are also in the list.

• Cũng vào ngày 8 tháng 8, Chính phủ đã ban hành Nghị định số 221 về chương trình miễn thị thực có thời hạn cho công dân nước ngoài trong các danh mục đặc biệt được coi là có lợi cho sự phát triển kinh tế-xã hội của đất nước. Theo nghị định này, các cá nhân đủ điều kiện bao gồm khách mời của các lãnh đạo quốc gia hàng đầu như Tổng Bí thư Đảng Cộng sản Việt Nam, Chủ tịch nước, Chủ tịch Quốc hội, Thủ tướng Chính phủ, Thường trực Ban Bí thư, Phó chủ tịch nước, Phó Chủ tịch Quốc hội, Phó Thủ tướng, lãnh đạo các tổ chức đoàn thể, Chánh án Tòa án nhân dân tối cao, Viện trưởng Viện kiểm sát nhân dân tối cao, Tổng Kiểm toán Nhà nước, Bộ trưởng và các quan chức tương đương, cũng như lãnh đạo các tỉnh và thành phố. Họ cũng là các học giả, chuyên gia, nhà khoa học, giáo sư đại học, kỹ sư trưởng, và nguồn nhân lực chất lượng cao trong ngành công nghệ số; nhà đầu tư và giám đốc điều hành từ các tập đoàn lớn nhất thế giới; các nhân vật văn hóa, nghệ thuật, thể thao và du lịch có ảnh hưởng tích cực đến công chúng; các lãnh sự danh dự của Việt Nam ở nước ngoài; và các khách mời của các viện nghiên cứu, trường đại học và doanh nghiệp lớn, được phê duyệt bởi các bộ, cơ quan ngang bộ, cơ quan chính phủ và Chính phủ. Vietnam is providing 45-day visa waivers to citizens from 13 countries: Belarus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Norway, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden and the U.K.

Travelers from 12 other countries - Chile, Panama, Kyrgystan and 9 Southeast Asian neighbors - are enjoying visa exemptions for between 14 and 90 days.
