Singapore to give civil servants 1.05-month salary as year-end bonus

Together with the mid-year bonus of 0.45 months, a civil servant will receive a total of 1.5 months in bonus this year, up from 0.9 months last year, the Public Service Division said in a statement.

The increase in bonus came as GDP growth forecast for the year has been lifted from 2-3% to around 3.5%, taking into account the "better-than-expected" performance of the Singapore economy in the first three quarters of the year, as well as the latest global and domestic economic situations.

Amalgamated Union of Public Employees general secretary Sanjeev Kumar Tiwari said "it is important that when our economy does well, our civil servants who have contributed to this success are rewarded accordingly", according to The Straits Times.

Singapore’s total employment in the third quarter rose by 24,100, more than doubling from the 11,300 of the second quarter.
