Myanmar’s Thae Su Nyein deletes Miss Grand title from Instagram profile

The beauty queen’s actions follow several disputes with MGI. On Oct. 26, during the final night of the Miss Grand International contest, Thae was named second runner-up, trailing contestants from the Philippines and India, who were declared first runner-up and winner respectively. She left the event visibly upset with her team shortly after the announcement and chose not to participate in the activities scheduled for the top five finalists.

According to ABS-CBN News, in an Instagram live stream the next day, Thae declared her intention to return her crown, expressing her belief that she had been unfairly denied two special awards: Best in National Costume and Country’s Power of the Year. The Best National Costume awards went to participants from Brazil, Ecuador, and Honduras, while the Country’s Power of the Year was awarded to Thailand.

On Oct. 28, the MGI organization announced on its Facebook page that it had stripped Thae of her title due to "inappropriate behavior."
