Dollar jumps 1% against dong in a week

Vietcombank sold the greenback at VND25,650, up 0.35% from Monday.

The State Bank of Vietnam hiked its reference rate by 0.14% to VND24,522.

• Ngân hàng Nhà nước Việt Nam đã tăng tỷ giá tham chiếu thêm 0,14% lên 24.522 VND.

Unofficial exchange points raised its rate by 0.31% to VND25,760.

• Các điểm giao dịch không chính thức đã tăng tỷ giá thêm 0,31% lên 25.760 VND.

Globally the dollar the dollar firmed on Tuesday after U.S. President Donald Trump moved to substantially raise tariffs on steel and aluminium imports and said he would announce plans to impose reciprocal tariffs on other countries over the coming days, Reuters reported.

• Trên toàn cầu, đồng đô la đã tăng giá vào thứ Ba sau khi Tổng thống Hoa Kỳ Donald Trump quyết định tăng mạnh thuế nhập khẩu thép và nhôm và cho biết ông sẽ công bố kế hoạch áp đặt thuế đối ứng lên các nước khác trong những ngày tới, theo Reuters.

The U.S. dollar rose 0.13% against the Canadian dollar to C$1.4332, extending gains made from the previous session, though the loonie was still some distance away from a 22-year low hit earlier this month.

• Đô la Mỹ đã tăng 0,13% so với đô la Canada lên mức 1,4332 CAD, tiếp tục tăng từ phiên trước, mặc dù đồng loonie vẫn còn cách xa mức thấp nhất trong 22 năm đạt được vào đầu tháng này.

The euro was down 0.05% at $1.0300, while sterling dipped 0.07% to $1.2355.

The yen rose 0.2% to 151.70 per dollar.
