Asia's most loved country extends visa exemption for Indians until 2026

"This initiative is part of broader efforts to enhance Malaysia's appeal as a travel destination while ensuring the safety and security of the nation," said Home Ministry Secretary-General Datuk Awang Alik Jeman, as quoted by The Star.

Malaysia first began waiving visas for Chinese and Indian tourists in December 2023, allowing them to stay for up to 30 days.

Recognized as the most loved country in Asia in a June survey by American finance website Insider Monkey, Malaysia is one of only two Southeast Asian nations offering visa exemptions for Indian tourists, alongside Thailand.

Following the visa waiver, as of November, Malaysia welcomed 1 million Indian tourists, a 71% year-on-year increase and a 47% rise compared to pre-pandemic levels in 2019.
